mLMC MISSION STATEMENT
Missoula Life Maintenance Center “Joey’s Place;” will be a free community based life maintenance center “Drop in Center” guided towards helping people with behavioral health issues. By offering peer support specialists, life coaching, art, music, mindfulness activities, recreation and gardening. A place that doesn’t carry a stigma behind it. Missoula Life Maintenance Center will be a conduit to all Missoula help centers.
MLMC Roots
Missoula Life Maintenance Center (MLMC) was founded by Mikey. On May 11th of 2016, Mikey’s brother (Joey) died by suicide. Mikey’s experience pushed him to start the center to share his story and to help others recover. As the center has grown and developed. The name has changed from Joey’s Place to Missoula Life Maintenance Center.
MLMC Approach
We focus on helping those with behavioral health issues, by offering peer support form certified Behavioral Health Peer Specialists with lived experience. Our peers offer an array of support tools like peer ran group and one on one peer support. MLMC serves as a conduit to all help centers in the Missoula community. MLMC works with all organizations in Missoula. Helping guide people back into the Missoula community.
Missoulian’s are ready for a change and everyone in the community has something to offer. MLMC is bringing folks together and changing the stigma behind mental illness and suicide to say, “We’re all in this together.”
